Couldn't agree more, but I don't think we need to worry too much. The true social media experts are the youth of today so as long as we improve creative education these tools will simply become the mediums they use for the expression of that creativity.

Just ran across this. Yes, yes, and yes. I see you also follow the Ad Contrarian. Good choice. Helps keep marketing-type people's feet on the ground.
Good post. Short, but you said it all.

Hey Josh, thanks for the article link. It's an important issue you're raising, and which haven't been discussed much. I agree with you that blogs and literature have been too focused on method rather than creative processes. Maybe it's because 'creativity' is a very hard concept to pin down and because there are no quick fixes to mastering it?

Thank you. I couldn't agree more. I just wrote something similar. Creativity is being replaced by so-called experts who happen to know a few tools really well. If you're interested the article is here:
<a href="http://joshchambers.com/dont-let-tactics-supplant-creativity/" rel="nofollow">http://joshchambers.com/dont-let-tactics-supplant-creativity/</a>
If not, I still enjoyed the read!
